I embarked on a transformative four-month journey delving into biomimicry, aiming to draw inspiration from the natural world to inform and shape innovative design concepts. The primary focus was on understanding the form, qualities, and functional aspects of a chosen animal through meticulous sketching, abstraction, and hands-on prototyping. The ultimate goal was to translate the essence of the selected animal into a tangible product, crafted through a multi-stage process involving clay modeling and XPS (expanded polystyrene) manipulation.
Chosen Animal: Dumbo Octopus
(video showcases the process from selecting the animal to a final render of the product that was ideated)
Why a computer mouse?
The dumbo octopus is a free flowing creature of the sea, and what makes this computer mouse different is the wrist rest provided between the head and the tail to prevent frequent users from having callouses on their wrists.
